International Children's Day Festival

3/20/2017 11:16 am

Hello Parents!

Planning is underway for the first OHES International Children's Day Festival on Friday, May 12th from 6pm - 8pm!  We are recruiting team members to help us out. Currently we are looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:

Country Table "Owners": Manage a table for a country of your choice (e.g., India, Mexico, China, Canada, UK, Italy, Australia, etc.).  Each table "owner" would create a theme for the table (activity/game, food item, information, etc.), attend planning meeting(s) prior to the event, and be present during the event.  We already have tables for Germany, Ireland, France, and Israel.

Silent Auction Committee Member: Support lead with gathering donations, and help manage auction during event.

Please reach out to Holly Plotnick or Gesa Moon if you are interested in helping out in any way - we need volunteers to make this a successful event!

Hoot's Heroes Fundraising Drive

3/5/2017 8:00 am

Dear parents of Orange Hunt students:

Did you know that the funds raised by your Orange Hunt PTA support the following events, programs, and services?

  • DreamBox access for the entire school
  • A full schedule of after-school activities
  • Smartboards & document cameras for all classrooms
  • Cameras for the 6th-grade news crew
  • Playground equipment
  • Book carts
  • Mini-grants to teachers/staff
  • Classroom supplies for teachers
  • Field trip buses for all 7 grades
  • School-wide/community events
  • Cultural arts assemblies
  • Monthly staff appreciation events

During the 2015-2016 school year, the families of Orange Hunt students contributed $11,000 to the Hoot’s Hero fundraising drive to support these and other events, programs, and services.  For the 2016-2017 school year, our goal is to raise $12,000.  However, many Orange Hunt families have not yet contributed to the 2016-2017 Hoot’s Hero fundraising drive, so we are barely halfway towards meeting our goal.  If every family that has not yet supported the 2016-2017 Hoot’s Hero fundraising drive makes a contribution (which is tax-deductible!) of just $30, we will be able to continue to support existing programs and even expand the range of activities available to Orange Hunt students.

Moreover, if we raise an additional $5,000 by April 21, then Principal Tuttle will thank the students by throwing a school-wide dance party!

Please click here to donate or return the Hoot's Heroes form below to your child’s teacher with a check payable to OHES PTA.

Thanks to all of you for supporting the Orange Hunt PTA.

A big thank you to all who donated to this year's BINGO Night! It was a great success and once again, thanks to all your contributions, every player walked away with a prize and a delicious dessert. We appreciate all the parents who donated their time and talents.

The BINGO Committee would also like to send a great big THANK YOU to Ms. McDaniel our fabulous announcer, Mrs. Suetterlein, and Mrs.Coburn for their support, and Betsy Churchill and the custodial staff for their help to have things set up for us.

The evening was a great collaborative effort to ensure a fun event for all.
