Girls on the Run (GOTR) Fall Signup

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is an afterschool program designed for 3rd-6th grade girls. Despite the name, your daughter does not need to be a runner to participate! The program is designed to encourage girls to use running/physical activity as a means of empowerment and motivation. GOTR is so much more than a running program; it is a youth development program which helps empower girls. Practices include a curriculum-based discussion on topics designed to boost self-esteem as well as games to encourage physical activity. We start from the absolute basics of walking/running and work our way up to a 5K run by the end of the season. GOTR has a Fall and Spring season, so there are two 5Ks per year in November and May. We are starting our Fall season soon.  Fall registration opens 8/22/16 and ends on 9/19/16.  The Fall Season will run from 9/27-12/8/2016.  We practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the back field from 3:40 – 4:40 pm.  Our 5K weekend is scheduled for November19th & 20th (we will know the actual 5K date in the coming weeks).  The cost is $175 per girl.  New this year is a military discount of $150.

Important News about German Club

Important News about German Club

Thank you to those who attended and participated in the discussion surrounding German Club at the recent PTA meeting.

Starting with the 2016-2017 school year, German Club will no longer collect dues or identify as a ‘club.’  German Club activities (such as Laternenfest, Karneval, and Game Days) will continue through the PTA under the German Cultural Activities Committee.  This is a positive change that we believe will increase participation, expand our volunteer base, and eliminate confusion about student eligibility.

In July, German Club monies will be absorbed into the PTA fund, but will be earmarked for German Cultural Activities.  Going forward, events like Luternenfest will be funded through the PTA and/or registration fees (similar to the Dance-a-thon).  Other German-focused activities, like Game Day, will be free and open to all Orange Hunt students  (on a space available basis).

Currently, all students at Orange Hunt receive some German language instruction. We appreciate your support as we broaden our outreach to include all interested students and families.
